Privacy Notice
Last updated 21 September 2026
Branchy is in open beta: anyone can create an account and use the full study engine, free, with no invite or waitlist. This notice covers what we collect from accounts and visitors during the beta.
What we collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address, and your name and profile image if you sign in with Google. Once you're signed in, we store the canvases, flashcard decks, and study progress you create so we can show them back to you across sessions and devices. If you use the feedback widget, we store what you submit.
Why we collect it
To run the product: to authenticate you, save and sync your work, and follow up on feedback you send us. We do not use your email or your canvas content for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Analytics
This site and the app use PostHog to record page views and interaction events (for example, that a canvas was created or a study session was completed) so we can understand how the product is used and improve it. These events are tied to an anonymous or account identifier, never to the contents of your canvases or flashcards.
Cookies
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep account and canvas data for as long as your account is active. If you stop using Branchy, your data stays until you ask us to remove it or the account is deleted.
Deleting your data
Email privacy@branchy.app to request deletion or an export of your account data, and we will act on it within 30 days.
Who can see it
We do not sell or share your data with advertisers. It is processed on our behalf by our hosting provider (Vercel), our database provider (Neon), and, for transactional email, Resend.
Changes
Branchy is still being built, and this notice will be replaced by a full privacy policy when the product moves past beta and introduces paid plans.
